Google Maps is now the leading digital map software on the market. With accessibility right from your smartphone, navigating the land has never been easier. Here are a few tips and tricks that will keep you and your loved ones safe and headed in the right direction.
Utilize a phone mount
Nothing is worse than holding your clunky phone while trying to drive through a new area. Voice navigated directions
Listening to where you need to go is a safer and more effective method than trying to read directions while driving. Simply search for your desired location, then touch and hold the blue Directions button on the bottom right corner of your screen. Following, the app will automatically choose the best path and navigate for you.
While you cannot get step-by-step directions when offline, Google Maps has created a way to save maps that you might need in the future. Simply search the location, scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and click on “Save map to use offline”. You can even name your saved maps to avoid confusion. Keep in mind that saved maps are only accessible for 30 days.
Train and bus times
If you need to view bus and train schedules, first search for your destination, click Directions, and then click the train icon located at the top of the screen. This will bring you to train and bus schedules based on the current time. If you’re wanting to view a schedule for a later time, click on Depart From at the top of the screen and enter your desired time of travel. You can even click on Last in order to see the time of the last stop of the day.
Share your location
In order to send a location, simply click and hold the desired destination and a pin will drop automatically. Next, click on the address at the bottom of the screen, and it will give you options of several apps to send your location through.
